Current Status: Construction from March 2024 through Spring 2025
Image description: The above image shows the new steel pedestrian bridge at East Lake MARTA Station with the sun rising in the background.
East Lake Station opened in 1979 and is one of the first stations being renovated under MARTA’s Station Rehabilitation Program. The first phase includes new pedestrian bridges and a new elevator on the north side. The old north pedestrian bridge was removed and replaced in July 2024, and work continues with the installation of flooring, lighting, and final components for the new bridge and elevator foundations.
Until Fall 2024, the north entrance and parking lot are closed for construction. Customers must use the south pedestrian bridge and south parking lot until further notice. A MARTA Mobility Shuttle will continue to service between the north and south sides of the station. The Station Soccer pitch in the north parking lot remains open with limited parking.
Similar work is planned for the south bridge, scheduled to start by October 2024. Continue to visit this site for additional information and sign up for email updates below.
Station Rehabilitation Program Features:
- New elevator on north side of the station
- New cleaner, safer pedestrian bridges on north and south sides
- Parking lot improvements with resurfacing, striping, ADA improvements, light poles, and surveillance cameras
